Weev named Northern Ireland’s most reliable EV charging network for the third year running

EV drivers have spoken again. In the Electric Vehicle Association Northern Ireland (EVANI) 2026 survey, Weev received the most votes for public charging reliability, ahead of Tesla, ESB Ecars and IONITY.

Which EV charging network is the most reliable in Northern Ireland? According to EVANI’s 2026 Northern Ireland EV Drivers Survey of 412 drivers, Weev is the most reliable public charge point operator, chosen by 23.6% of respondents, compared with 17.9% for Tesla Supercharger, 13.5% for ESB Ecars and 10.4% for IONITY. It’s the third year in a row Weev has come out on top.

We’re proud, and we’re grateful. Reliability is the thing drivers tell us matters most, and it’s the thing we work hardest on every single day. Hearing it back from the people who actually use the public network across Northern Ireland, for a third year, means a great deal to the whole Weev team.

What did the EVANI 2026 survey find?

EVANI’s annual Northern Ireland EV Drivers Survey received 412 responses this year, up from 369 in 2025. When asked which public charging operator they considered most reliable, drivers ranked the networks like this:

The wider findings are good news for EV driving in Northern Ireland too:

  • 86.3% of respondents would definitely or likely choose another plug-in vehicle next time.
  • 87% are satisfied or very satisfied with their EV’s range.
  • 91.2% say their EV is their only or main household vehicle, up from 87.5% last year.
  • 39.6% bought their current EV second-hand, up from 21.9% in 2023.
  • 61% say getting a public charge has become easier.

Drivers were also honest that there’s still more to do. Over half of respondents don’t yet feel Northern Ireland’s public charging network is fit for purpose. We hear that, and it’s exactly why we keep building, so that charging is simple wherever people live, work and travel.

Powering ahead: The complete EV charging solution

Being the most reliable public network is a great start, but we don’t think drivers should have to piece their charging together from different providers. That’s why Weev delivers everything EV: At home, At work and on the road.

At home: smart home chargers

For most drivers, the cheapest and easiest charge happens at home. Weev Home supplies and installs smart EV chargers from trusted brands, and we look after everything from quote to installation. Charge overnight, wake up ready to go.

At home without a driveway: cross-pavement charging

Not everyone has off-street parking, especially in terraced streets and towns across Northern Ireland. Weev installed Northern Ireland’s first cross-pavement charging channel, which lets you run a charging cable safely from your home charger, through a channel set flush into the pavement, to your car on the street. Our cross-pavement charging service is an all-in-one package, covering the charger, cable channel, installation and the Department for Infrastructure licence, so you can enjoy home charging prices even without a driveway.

In your community: on-street charging through ORCS

Weev has been appointed to supply, connect and operate more than 250 EV charge points across nine council areas in Northern Ireland under the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles’ On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS). The project, worth more than £2 million and funded by OZEV, the Department for Infrastructure and Weev, is led by Derry City and Strabane District Council on behalf of the NI EV Consortium. These chargers are placed on residential streets and in council car parks close to homes without driveways, so more households can make the switch with confidence. Installations are already under way in places like Derry~Londonderry and Lisburn & Castlereagh.

At work: Weev chargers in your workplace

Charging while you work just makes sense. Weev Work helps businesses, landlords and fleets install and run EV charging for staff, visitors and vehicles, managed through InSite by Weev, our charge point management platform. We handle the set-up, the support and the day-to-day running, so your team just plugs in.

On the road: the Weev public network

When you’re out and about, the Weev public charging network has you covered, from AC destination charging to Rapid and UltraRapid chargers. Pay by contactless, Fob or the My Weev App - the cheapest way to charge. It’s the network Northern Ireland’s drivers have now voted the most reliable three years in a row.

What’s next for Weev?

We’re powering ahead. With more ORCS charge points going live, cross-pavement charging opening up home charging to more households, and our public network continuing to grow, our focus stays the same: making EV charging easy, affordable and reliable for everyone in Northern Ireland and across Ireland.

Thank you to every driver who took the time to vote, and to EVANI for championing the transition to EV across NI.
